Diana Walters has presented over 200 professional concerts and recitals, including numerous operatic roles, Messiahs, and staged productions of Solomon, Saul, and Elijah. She has premiered the works of the American composers, David Jex, Leroy Williams, Margaret Garwood, Thomas Romine, Ferruccio Germani, and Luke Mayernik. Active in recital & church work in PA and OH, Ms. Walters has sung in New Smyrna Beach, FL and at All Angels By The Sea Episcopal Church on Longboat Key, FL and appeared as the soprano soloist in the Poulenc Gloria in Franklin, PA. She has recently relocated to Sarasota, FL.
She is the soprano in the Viva Voce! quartet and in the duo, Tira Tutti, which presented a recital in NYC at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, releasing a vibrant cd, “A Tour of Europe” which included duets from England, France, Germany, & Italy. She has sung, informally, in the theater at Epidaurus, Greece. She sang in La Courneuve, France and was a soloist for the American Football Coaches Association National Conference in Dallas, Texas. She was invited to present a recital in Lingen, Germany in 1995. She opened Pittsburgh Pirates & Pittsburgh Steeleers games with the National Anthem for many years.
Diana Walters maintained private voice studios in Grove City, PA and St. Louis, MO where she continues to work. She headed Sing it! Productions, heads VoiceTeacher1, and has served on the faculties of many colleges and universities for 29 years. She was the Opera Director and Voice Teacher at the prestigious, Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts for 32 years, until it closed. The soprano was in the Directory of Roster Artists for the State of Pennsylvania and is an Artist-in-Residence in PA schools and organizations. She was the voice teacher at the Allegheny Chamber Music Festival in Meadville, PA in 2004. From 2010-2012 she has been co-director of the Summer Vocal Academy at St. Vincent’s College in Latrobe, PA. She is the voice teacher for the Music & Movement Workshop, working in conjunction with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre at Midwestern Intermediate Unit in Western Pennsylvania. She is the voice teacher at the Sarasota Music Conservatory in Sarasota, Florida.
She was the Founder and Artistic Director of the Summer Vocal Academy held at Sharon (PA) High School for gifted singers of Western Pennsylvania. She has conducted masterclasses throughout PA, OH, in St. Louis, San Diego, CA and in New York. Called "one of America's finest vocal pedagogues" by Mija Novich, her students have sung and won awards worldwide and are, currently, on the rosters of the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, and are on Broadway.
Ms. Walters is a Charter Member and Past- President of the Midwestern Arts & Humanities Foundation in Grove City, PA, served on the Ohio University National Alumni Board of Directors. Charter Member and Past-President of the School of Music Alumni Society and is a member of the Ohio University College of Fine Arts Advisory Board. She received the 2004 Distinguished Service Award from Ohio University. She served as President of the Tri-State Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Pi Kappa Lambda, music honoraries, as well as, the leadership honorary, Omicron Delta Kappa. She was a member of the Grove City Community Food Pantry Board and is now active in the Music Archive at Selby Library and Friends of the Sarasota Concert Association.
